Hi,
I have two customers running TSplus on Windows 2012 R2 server.
When connecting with the native Windows Microsoft RDP client (mstsc.exe) or Mac Microsoft RDP App, the local printers of my customers are not shown in the TSplus session, so they can't print anything from the TSplus session to their own local printers.
In the RDP clients they have turned ON "Local Devices -> Printers", but still their local printers are not shown in the TSplus session, which is a big problem for them.
So what could be the cause?
Please help!
Best regards
Jeffrey
2012 R2 Server - No local printers in RDP session - HELP!
Re: 2012 R2 Server - No local printers in RDP session - HELP
Hello,
As you know, printer redirection may be difficult from time to time and is the main reason why we developed the Universal Printer.
For a successful printer redirection you need :
- To install the same version of printer drivers on client and server side.
- To add specific drivers on server side when necessary. (for example if your server is Windows 2008R2 X64 and your client are Windows XP 32, you will have to add manually these XP drivers on your server otherwise your printer may not appear).
- Sometimes even some specific drivers optimized for RDP are necessary, this can be checked on the printer's manufacturer website.
- And finally, for Mac users, the use of the Universal Printer with HTML5 connection is strongly recommended.

Thanks for you response.
This is not quite true: Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2 use out of the box the Easy Print Driver, so that no drivers have to be installed on the server side. On my Windows 7 Ultimate TSplus system everything is working ok: so no printer drivers have been installed on the TSplus system and all my local printers are shown in the TSplus session, when connecting with the native Microsoft RDP client.- To install the same version of printer drivers on client and server side.

Hello Jeffrey,
You say that Easy Print Driver is installed outofthebox. Are you sure about that ?
I have a 2008 server and I needed to install it separately. As I can remember I had
to install Terminal Server first. After doing so it worked nicely, but I had to register
and buy TS licences within an amount of time, so I uninstalled TS and started using
Universal printer from TSPlus.
Best regards,
Aad

Hello,
Indeed unfortunately the Easy Print driver is not supported by TSplus.
