Printing via universal printer takes too long or does not work

Hi,

i have a huge problem with the new universal printer using the TSPlus windows client.

- when printing a normal txt or word document the printing time is ok (green bar "please wait" -> printer selection dialogue)
- when printing any pdf, the printing time is way too long (green bar pops up several times - document gets very large in the windows printing queue: 25 KB file becomes over 100 MB!)

Cause of this, the printing time is way too long.

The newest TSPlus release is installed: 10.20.4.19

It seems, that when printing via universal printer, the generated pdf also transfers a portable Sumatra app to the local pc and opens the tranfered pdf there. Is there a way to open the tranfered pdf in the already existing local pdf reader (lets say Foxit Reader) instead of this sumatra app?

@TSPlus: Are you aware of the problems your rewritten Universal Printer causes here in my productive installations? When will they be fixed?

Hello,

We are aware of all the issues related to the new Universal Printer and these issues are being addressed, a new update should be available soon.
Meanwhile I recommend you to follow this procedure to reinstall the previous version of the Universal Printer :

The new TSplus 10.10 release is changing the Universal Printer driver to provide better printing performances.
However, some issues has been detected and these settings will be fixed by the next update (10.20).

For the short term, if you have a printing problem with the release 10.10 the solution is to follow step by step the following process on the server side:

1) Open the Control Panel, remove the Universal Printer
It is mandatory to do this before the step 2

2) Download http://dl-files.com/9.90/Setup-UniversalPrinter.exe
Run it. Wait until the process is fully completed.
Verify with the control Panel that the Universal Printer has been properly created.

3) Download http://dl-files.com/9.90/ClientGenerator.bin
Replace the existing one in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\TSplus\Clients\WindowsClient
This will enable to generate TSplus connection client using Sumatra as local PDF driver.

4) Download http://dl-files.com/9.90/Setup-RemoteAppClient.exe
Replace the existing one in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\TSplus\Clients\www\RemoteAppClient
This will enable the Web RemoteApp client to use Sumatra to print the document on the user side

You can use this text as a "standard" answer for any customer contacting you for printing problems.

5) Verify with the Control Panel the property of the Universal Printer.
On the PORT tab, it is not the UNIVERSALPORT: which shall be selected
BUT, it must be the CPWUP977: port that must be select
