Application Control - Domain users

Post by ecvetek » Wed Sep 07, 2016 7:55 am

I have a problem opening Application Control when selecting Domain users. The window gets stuck at "Tsplus. Please wait..." screen indefinitely!

Already uninstalled and reinstalled Tsplus, but still the same. It works flawlessly on two other servers, but not on this one. And i use the same enviroment and configuration on all servers.

MS Azure Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter x64, 28GB RAM, E5.2673 v3 CPU
TS Plus Enterprise Edition v9.40.8.31

Thanks,
Erik

Hello,

Make sure you are logged in the server with a domain admin account. If your domain has a large number of users / groups this operation may take a few minutes to complete.

Hello,

i am domain administrator! I also tried to install Tsplus on different server (Server 2016) and i have same problem. Also tried installing on Windows 10, with same problem!
I didnt found anything written about that in update description; did something change in latest version of Tsplus? The last version we have on two more server that is working just fine is 9.40.7.26. Is there any way i can get download that version from your homepage?

thanks,
Erik

Hello,

To let you know what i discovered in addition:
- i found a old setup file used on previous server to do a initial installation so i uninstalled the current (latest) version of Tsplus, also manually deleted Tsplus folder from Program Files and manually deleted removelastfolders.exe and .bin and svcr.exe files from ProgramData, then i use the setup i found and installed old version 9.20.x.x and the Application Control window for assigning the published applications to DOMAIN users was working as it should!
- then i also found old UpdateRelease.exe used to update the other two servers to Tsplus 9.40.7.26 and the Application Control was also working fine on that version
- then i want to check if problem is only in latest version so downloaded the latest UpdateRelease by clicking on Check for Update in Tsplus AdminTool and once installed, the Application Control stopped working when i wanted to switch to domain users

So once again, i uninstalled everything, followed above steps, excluding the last one. Now i have a fully functional Tsplus version 9.40.8.31.

I am suspecting you have a bug in latest or latest few versions of TSplus. Once patched, i kindly ask you to let me know so i can update all 3 servers to latest version!

Thanks,
Erik

Hello,

My guess is that something went wrong during your update of TSplus.
Make sure no users are logged in before installing any update, you can check for remote users by launching a task manager and clicking on the users tab. Disabling your anti virus is also recommended.A reboot is required.

You will find more detailed information about TSplus updating process here : http://www.terminalserviceplus.com/docs ... rvice-plus

Hello,

Such issue can happen.
Hardly, but it can happen.

However, the AdminTool feature "Assign Application" is just a GUI which is writing in the file AppControl.ini.
It is very easy for you to use notepad and to do the job as you wish.
This file is stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\TSplus\UserDesktop\files

To assign the application 5 to the users:
A
B
C
of the domain
TSPLUS
You will just have to type:
users=TSPLUS\A;TSPLUS\B;TSPLUS\C
And you will be set

An easy workaround for specific cases like yours; isn't it?

Kind regards

John

Hello,

No need to reboot when modifying the AppControl.ini file with notepad. Changes are immediate, only logging off and logging back on with a user session is necessary.
