Questions on RTaskbar.exe and Webime.exe
Questions on RTaskbar.exe and Webime.exe
I was wondering if anyone had tinkered with RTaskbar.exe and Webime.exe?
So far, I have disabled access to these 2 .exe's for a test users and have noticed no difference in my setup. Please note, I am only ever assigning 1 application to 1 user and only login with HTML5.
I have tested the login process, the log off process, printing, file uploading and downloading, so far everything works great. Can anyone provide insight as to what these 2 .exe's use? I typically have 80 - 90 users on the server in question and the size of the Rtaskbar.exe alone is typically around 2,348k. That alone can save me a bit of memory. .
The Webime.exe is approx 4,556K. I can cut my memory usage a lot more removing this as well. Again, just wondering if any side affects.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!

I would also like to add ltaskbar.exe to this list.
FWIW - I disabled all 3 of these on one of my servers. So far, no users have complained about any adverse affects. It has only been a few hours though. I will update if anything strange is reported.

Re: Questions on RTaskbar.exe and Webime.exe
Hello Brian,
I have one good news and one bad news for you!
The good news:
Please do not care about the number of processes started by a user.
It is normal and expected.
TSplus is a software (a brilliant and outstanding one) and as any software we need some processes to run properly.
Reading your post, I think you are starting one single application when the session is opening.
In your specific case:
RTaskbar.exe warrant that the user will see his minimized button when he will minimize this application and he will have a nice blue background (or any other color) instead of a ugly black background.
This is the role of RTaskbar.exe
Webime.exe is the process which enable chanel exchanges betwwen the user web browser and the server side. It is needed for the file transfer and the printing.
Of course, if you do not allow the minimization in your application, if your application is always maximized, if you do not need to do file transfer and if you do not care about printing,
THEN, these processes are useless.
However, I would not recommend you to care about this.
It is always better to keep the system as it is designed and if you need more power, you should consider to invest in a fastest CPU (hardware is very powerful and very cheap) instead of jeopardizing system processes.
The bad news:
In our new 9.10 release (Major 2016 Edition) launched this week worldwide (a fantastic product), we are adding several more processes per user named svcr.exe (Application runtine).
I know that you will be worried by that fact, so I advise you that this should not cause any performance issues.
The performance for demanding production environment of the release 9.10 has been one of our concern. And we will continue to invest in order to warrant the best to all of our customers.
Kind regards
John Davies

Re: Questions on RTaskbar.exe and Webime.exe
Hi John, thanks for the reply.
I have given access back to RTaskbar and all other files so they can run as they are supposed to.
I did just upgrade one of my servers to 9.10.1.31 and I notice svcr.exe *32
Is it normal for it to be opened 3x for each user?

Hello,
Yes this is normal and the number of process may vary.

Program icon in the bottom left of the screen...
Hi. We are in the final analysis phase to buy several TSPlus licenses for our clients, but we have a question.
In our testing with your Trial License, when you run a program, using TSPlus, the program icon appears in the bottom left of the screen (see attached picture). How can we turn off, remove or delete that icon ?. We need that window icon not appear because in that corner appears necessary information of our system and it can not be covered by this icon.
We like so much your app. Congratulations!!

Hello,
If you want to have a better behavior for minimizing your remote applications, you should consider using the remote app connection client. This mode of connection is now supported if your TSplus server is installed on any Windows operating systems with version 9.10.
If you cannot or do not want to use the RemoteApp connection client, you can set up a different behavior for minimizing your applications. Open an admin tool, server tile, click on "Desktop Taskbar", make sure to uncheck the "Hide systray icons". If this is not enough you can also rename the file ltaskbar.exe into xltaskbar.exe located in : C:\Program Files (x86)\TSplus\UserDesktop

Re: Questions on RTaskbar.exe and Webime.exe
Hi admin, first, many thanks for your answer and support
. I want you to know that we followed your instrucctions "...Open an admin tool, server tile, click on "Desktop Taskbar", make sure to uncheck the "Hide systray icons..." but the "Desktop Taskbar" doesn´t appear in our server menu, see the picture attached.
How we can activate or see the "Desktop Taskbar" button/option in our Server Menu screen?
BUT, the good news is, we rename the file ltaskbar.exe into xltaskbar.exe and works perfect!!
Many thanks again, you are the best!!

Hello,
Sorry I meant "Remote Taskbar" option... Glad to know this solved your issue.
