TSPlus, Windows XP and Virtualization?

Post by tstrini » Tue Oct 16, 2012 1:55 pm

Hello

My goal is to set up a virtual server running TSPlus on XP.
I tried Virtualbox 4 and VMWare Workstation 9 and both give the same result: RDP access from a network computer BUT only a single logon. If I try a second login, a message comes up stating that another user is currently logged on and will be disconnected if I proceed.
This is a virtual machine running a clean installation of Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, with TSPlus 3.20 and then TSPlus 2010.

Perhaps I am not using the right software to create the virtual machine?

Can anyone advise on if this is possible?

Hello,

Yes it is possible to use virtualisation with Windows XP pro and TSplus. I think you should use the latest release available here : tsplus.net/Setup-TSplus-V5-2012.exe
Make sure not to install a Windows update after the installation of TSplus.

Just downloaded the latest TSPlus and installed it over the previous version, same result.
It only allows a single user to logon.

The version of XP I am using has Service Pack 3 integrated. Could this be making the difference?
I have also installed XP in the virtual machine, was I supposed to use an image of a real working TSPlus server?

Can you tell me what you have used to achieve a virtual TSPlus server on XP?
Which Virtualization software is recommended?

It would be great if I could get this working!

Hello,

This means something went wrong during the installation process, either because of a windows update or maybe an antivirus/firewall software has blocked the installation process. For this purpose we made a compatibility patch available here : tsplus.net/CompatibilityUpdate.exe

A reboot will be mandatory upon installation of this patch, I recommend you to disable your antivirus/firewall software if present prior to the installation of this patch. Creating a scan exclusion rule on the following folder can also help :
C:\wsession
C:\Program files (86)\TSplus
Sometimes some TSplus component can be consider as a threat as it enables users to connect remotly to a server.
Hope this helps !

Fantastic, that did the trick! Finally was able to have a second login!

Thank you so much Admin & TSPlus team!
