Is Azure AD supported when the VM is hosted on Azure?
We are currently using a Domain Controller VM for one Azure tenancy of a load balanced system, but require to set up a new tenancy and use Azure AD with this one.

Yes specific procedures do exist for Azure AD as this active directory differs a little bit from standard AD. Please open a support ticket if you need some guidance for your setup.
