Hi
On my server I enable the Security Policy setting that disables access to the "Shutdown" button. However once RDS Knight is installed this security policy gets over ridden and the Shutdown options is available which is a problem. I cannot afford to accidentally shutdown a server so I would like this Group Policy respected so that the "Shutdown" option is not available from the Start Menu.
Thanks,
Simon
RDS Knight and Shutdown Option
Re: RDS Knight and Shutdown Option
Hello,
Open your domain or local strategy object editor (gpmc.msc) and locate the following strategy :
Computer configuration / Administrative Template / Windows components / Remote Desktop Services / Remote Desktop Session Host / Session time limit /
You can also make sure your domain controller do not prevent local strategies to be executed. This strategy needs to be disabled and is located in :
Computer configuration / Policies / Administrative Template / System / Group Policy / Turn off Local Group Policy objects processing.

Re: RDS Knight and Shutdown Option
Hi
I am not sure what the Session Time Limit has to do with the problem but I cannot use the GPMC.msc because it requires a domain user account and the server is not part of a domain so there are no domain users.
Secondly there are no Policies in the Computer configuration section.

Solved: RDS Knight and Shutdown Option
Hi
I had the first Group Policy item already set but it was not respected by RDS Knight. However, the second option worked when I removed "Administrators" from the list of groups allowed to shutdown the server.
Thank-you
