Google Chrome "Gray Screen of Death"

Running the latest TSPlus on a Windows 7 Professional X64 computer. I installed Google Chrome and am getting what they call the "Chrome Gray Screen of Death". Chrome opens to a gray screen and nothing works. I have been Googling this for days and the problem is out there in mass with no fix. Today I came across a thread that said Chrome will not work on a TSPlus Server.

Is that true?

Let me amend this and change it to a statement. There is a problem with Chrome 64-bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with TSPlus. It gives you the Chrome Grey Screen of Death. Just for grins I installed it on a second TSPlus Server and what do you know? Same problem.

So the new question..... how do you fix it?

Hello,

Chrome and click once applications are supported by TSplus. If you wish to be able to use Chrome browser on your TSplus server you need to do the following :
Open an admin tool, go to the server tile, click on "Opening session preference" and check the "Use windows native shell" box. A reboot will be necessary.

Thanks. That did the trick but what issues will I be faced with now that "Use windows native shell" is implemented? That option had to be un-checked for a reason.....

Hello,

TSplus requires to start its logon process each time a session is opening.
This logon process is checking the user rights, the application to be started, what kind of connection client is requesting this session, what will be the TSplus requested temp folders for the Universal printer.
So, it is important to start this logon process.
Windows allows two kind of methods to start a logon program prior anything else:
- The TSplus logon process is started by the RDP startup program : "Use TSplus shell when opening sessions (default)"
- The TSplus logon process is started by the session manager startup program : Use native Windows shell when opening sessions."
For years, TSplus was using the first method. It is a field proven one and we recommend to use it as it is our preferred method.
However, we introduce since the 8.10 the ability for the administrator to switch to the second method.
For some application like Click Once and Chrome browser, the use of the session startup program is better because such application has not been designed to work within RDP session and failed to start.
According to our experience, various cases requires to use the second method.
