Hello

After recent updates the desktop color of all our users, who are actually using the "FloatingPanel" desktop, has become black.

We are currently using version 08.40.11.10

Kindly let us know how to have the correct color.

See attached screenshot for checking the black background color they unexpected having.

Thanks !

I'm having the same issue. Did you find a solution for this? I'm running 8.40.11.30

Hello

I also updated the TSPlus server to version 08.40.11.30 but still all remote users, using both RDC program or browser HTML5, still have this issue of black Desktop color using the "FloatingPanel" desktop.

Hi cesare,
I just got a reply from their support that they're investigating this and a work-around would be to use the RemoteApp instead of Seamless when creating the client.
For the HTML5, there should be a fix already done for that, but don't think it was released yet.
By the way, are you using W2008, W2012, W2012R2, W10 ? It seems like there's a difference.

Thanks for the information given, hope for some update on HTLM5 part soon: our users are using it a lot and actually there is, with the "FloatingPanel" desktop, the issue of black Desktop color.

Bye.

Can you explain the problem with HTML5. I don't understand why it's a problem with the background, or maybe I've never used HTML5 the way you do?

Hello,

The background color and its mysteries !

OK, lets start my day talking about this excellent topic.

During the past 10 years Microsoft decided to paint his wall using different methods.
They did use one, two, or three layers of paint, and their brush was changed several times.
XP, Vista, W7, W8 and now W10 has seen their system to paint/repaint, draw, redraw changed and becoming incompatible.

Because of that technical fact, we had to change our own method and this was important because we are using the transparency color for our seamless client.

I cannot tell how many weeks/months of work spend on this specific topic background color painting during the past 10 years...

With W10, Microsoft did change it again; Any of the known color entry in the registry are now acting as it always did.
We did spend quite a lot of time during the past few weeks on this topic
In our last update we added the capability to set one default color for all users. It is a color value in color.ini file that we are using
[msxp]
code=58 110 165
However, the paint color is still wet and we have not yet experience this enhancement within all possible versions of Windows and we will do it.

Also, because of the W10 background color issue, we have decided to add the support of native RemoteApp mode (which does not require this color) with any W10 system even the W10 Basic or Pro.
We already did it for W10 and we are extended it to W7 Home and Pro (Enterprise and Ultimate version are already supporting it).

We have plan to launch the release 8.50 for Christmas; these enhancements and this color background question fix will be for sure included within this upcoming new and nice release of TSplus.

Kind regards

John Davies

Hi John,
Thanks for the information. Great to know a little "behind the scene" stuff.
I'm running Windows 2012R2, so should I set the msxp color to 0 0 0 since that's the value of black?

Just to update this thread. John wrote back to my support ticket and the answer was to use the RemoteApp instead of Seamless. I'm going to test what the impact might be at one of our locations.
