Can´t print if disk C: is not visible on the Client

Hello,

we are using a Windows Server 2012 R2 with the TS Plus 8.30 Software to stream one application to our Clients on multiple Locations. All works fine, but we have one Problem with the Universal Printer.
If the Clients have a Group Policy which hide the disk C: for the Standard Domain Users, the Univeral Printer don´t work. On the TSPlus Server the Print job seems to be generated, but on the Client is no response. For some testing, i changed the GPO entry to allow the view on Disk C: and all works fine. Because of the Security Policy on one of our Locations i can´t change this Setting on the Clients.

It´s a bug or a feature?
Is there a trick to get the Universal Printer working?

Greetings,
Thomas

Hello,

Are your client drive hidden or disabled ? If hidden it should work fine, if the access is prevented totally then the Universal Printer cannot work properly.

Hello,

the drive is just hidden by a GPO.

Hello,

I was not able to reproduce this issue : Printing works fine when hiding drives with GPO or with our hide drive tool available in the admin tool / server tile. What connection method are you using and what Universal Printer are you using ? I tried successfully with a generated connection client with PDF preview.

Hello,

the Client is a Windows 7 Pro Computer joined to a Windows 2012 R2 Domain. The Connection to the TerminalServer is done with the VPN-Client created by the TSPlus tool. All Clients and Servers are installed in German Language. The TS Plus Version is 8.30

All works fine, but if i set following GPO on the Client PC "Benutzerkonfiguration/Richtlinien/Administrative Vorlagen/Windows-Komponenten/Datei-Explorer/Diese angegebenen Datenträger im Fenster Arbeitsplatz ausblenden = Aktiviert - Nur Laufwerk C einschränken" the Virtual Printer won´t work. I can further work with the Disk C, it´s really just hidden in the File-Explorer. I can reproduce the issue by switching the GPO on or off.

Greetings,

Thomas

PS: Here the translation in english for the GPO "User Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Explorer/Hide these specified drives in My Computer = Activate - Only hide Disk C"
