Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
We have experienced a stange issue only today. Never seen it before. I did some upgrading of my Mac to Yosemite (10.10.2) and suddenly the Microsoft Remote Desktop always trigges one specific application (SAP B1) when I log on to the TsPlus server. It does not matter what user I log on with. It's like the connection is done as a seamless client with only one application (I even see the green background).
If I connect with the Remote Desktop client from Windows, it seems to works ok.
But, maybe it's not a Mac issue, since I've been able to log on from another Mac with same configuration. It could be because of another thing we tried today: We created a "Portable Client" for my user and assigned a "single application startup path" for the application that is actually now always launched (SAP B1) for all users (from a Mac). This portable client was started from a windows PC. Even if it seems strange that it should make this error, it's the only thing that I can see we tried out. I do not use a Windows PC, but a virtual Windows instance (Fusion) on my Mac.
Is this "Single Application Startup Path" somehow saved on the TSP server?

Re: Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
Just an update: We now tried using Cord to do the remote desktop connection from a Mac. The result is the same: One specific application is launced as if it is a "seamless connection".
Cold it be: The last update from Apple was an update for Yosemite to better support Apple's own remote desktop application. I do not use this (it's not even installed) but both Microsoft and Cord use some shared libraries and setting on a Mac. Strange !

Hi,
Here everything is working ok on my MacBook with latest iOS 10.10.2 with the latest MS RDP App for Mac. Perhaps you can restart your TSplus system?
Best regards
Jeffrey

Re: Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
Hi
I did try restart the server.
This evening I have tried connecting from my other Mac (Mini). Same OS and latest Microsoft RDP - and it works.
I then tried the first mac (MacBook Pro) again - and it works! BUT this is because I'm now at home and not in the office.
The error occured because I first did a connection with the generated client (with "Single application startup ...") from the virtual windows machine (Wmvare Fusion) from the MacBook in the office. Since then I get the strange behaviour if I connect from the MacBook using the MS RDP for Mac. TsPlus may regard this connection as coming from the same client - since the IP is shared between the Max OSX and the virtual Windows session.
The question is: What can possible trigger this behaviour, where a single application is started? It's not bound to the user - since I used 2 different users when I connected. They both have more applications and one of them access the normal windows remote desktop. It is not bound to the Mac - since it works out of the office.
Now when I'm not in the office (same domain as the TsPlus server) I can suddenly connect as usual, but I'll bet You I will have the strange situation when I'm back in the office. I will of course check.

Re: Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
Hello,
To me it seems that you configured a startup application to be launched at logon directly from your RDP client. creating a new connection client should solve this issue, you can also delete old connection client by following this procedure : tsplus.net/support/kb/faq.php?id=23

Re: Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
I did - but that was in my virtual Windows session - and it was done with the exe-file generated by TSPlus (we are currently testing TSPlus).
BUT, the issue is from the mac MS RDP client. No startup application is assigned, and if it was, it would also trigger when I log on from home (remote via VPN).
Remember: I did also install Cord - after this error - and that did not fix it.
Could there be something on the TSPlus server that recognize the client pc - e.g from IP? - and trigger the startup application. Since I restarted the server, it is not only cached. On the other hand - I can log on ok from the virtual windows machine on the mac.

Re: Remote Desktop from Mac triggers only one application
Just an update: I have now tried to logon from the Mac side when in the office. Everything is ok now, as far as I can see.
I guess we will not see this strange situation in the future, since we will not use the Single application startup feature. We will just allocate only one application to those users. However it would still be nice to know how it could happen.
