Large Jobs and Universal Printer
Large Jobs and Universal Printer
Is there a way to limit or automatically break up large print jobs on the "Universal Printer" that clog the Print Spooler. Every so often a user trys a huge report 2000-+ pages with graphics and it kills the spooler and I have to restart the spooler service.
Re: Large Jobs and Universal Printer
Hello,
Are you sure you are printing using the Universal Printer and not a redirected printer instead ?
The Universal Printer usually do not uses the spool service too much, which you can set to auto restart on error if necessary.
Getting rid of old drivers and updating all of your printer drivers on client and server side may help if you are using printer redirection.
That being said, you should find a way to segment your print job by selecting a fewer number of pages to print.

Re: Large Jobs and Universal Printer
It is the "Universal Printer" using the CUSTPDF version per JD to deal with the print jobs being set to the first login of a specific user name.
I know I can tweek my application to prevent large print jobs, I was just hoping Universal could do it somehow.

Re: Large Jobs and Universal Printer
Hello,
You are using an old version of the Universal Printer driver. Update your TSplus installation, in the driver section of your print server management, you should see the GhostScript PDF driver replacing the CustPDF driver.
If that is not the case, remove CustPDF and reinstall the GhostScript PDF driver in the admin tool / server tile / Printer management

Re: Large Jobs and Universal Printer
We had a problem with the new Printer Driver in users who login under the same user name in different locations would have print items sent only to the machine that had the first login session. Has this been resolved with Ghostscript?
