HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
Hello Juergen,
Like I said in the Subject, Explorer select files from the desktop and NOT from
the designated map (Custom folder), when I use the bar on top of the screen. When I use the "TSPlus GUI"
everything is working fine.
Best regards,
Aad Gouka

Hello,
I did not fully understand your point, but if you mean if it is possible to copy files with Explorer - yes, it is possible, just select files in Explorer and copy these files to \\tsclient\WebFile
It is exactly what any Tsplus copy tool internally does, it copies choosen files to \\tsclient\WebFile and nothing more and nothing lesser.

Re: HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
What I mean is that via HTML 5 bar you can download a file from a custom folder.
When I use the TSPlus GUI I can download from the correct folder (Custum folder that I assigned)
When I use Explorer, then I can only download from the desktop and not from my Custom folder.
Remember: I mean the button From Server to PC in the HTML 5 bar.
I hope you know what I mean.

Re: HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
Hello,
>>Server to PC
It is just registered program that runs inside session (you can assign your own program and its icon will be displayed in top menu and so may be started remotely from top menu)
Once this "Server to PC" program was started you are able to choose files, as soon you did your choice the choosen files get copied to \\tsclient\WebFile
Exactly same actions you could do with Windows own Explorer if Explorer has right to access the files to be copied, and so you can copy them to \\tsclient\WebFile. I still do not understand the sense of your question, excuse me. For me it doesn't matter at all who or what copies files to \\tsclient\WebFile, Explorer or any other program.

Re: HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
Hi.
Let me jump in and add my experience with this.
Through HTML5 connection, we can access the HTML5 Top Menu and one of the choices is File Donwload to Client.
Now, in Web Portal Preferences we have now the ability to choose "Use Explorer to select files" and "Use TSplus GUI". Moreover, we can configure a Custom Folder to "Upload" files and to "Download" from. If we set the "Use TSplus GUI", all works fine as expected, and the GUI directs the user to the Custom Folder that has been configured. However, if we set "Use Explorer to select files", the Custom Folder is not being taken into consideration, and the Explorer is open giving total access to the user to various folders, and not directly to the Custom Folder configured.
One more thing, since this is the behavior in the last version, setting the new "Use Explorer to select files" option will break security in all places where the Custom Folder had been configured. I would like to ask you to leave the "Use TSplus GUI" option as the default for the updates, as this was the configured behavior before you guys created the new option. The ones who would like to use "Explorer" could then go and choose it for their configuration.
Best.
Ivan

Re: HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
Hello,
I recommend you to use ticket system
http://support.tsplus.net/
So your issue can be assigned to responsible person. (and that is definetively not me
)
Main office does not inform me about program updates that run inside session, sometimes it is for me "something new" too, actually
"use Explorer to select files". In fact I got only now the idea what the thread starter wanted from me but I was wrong address for such kind of questions, wondering every time when I get asked about personally. (removed "to Juergen" from thread name, please when asking questions be maximally impersonal so the support can contact the right person then)
However I can predict the answer from main office about using of Explorer for selecting files.
The difference between "Use Explorer to select files" and "use TSplus GUI",
Explorer was programmed as part of Windows system by Microsoft and Tsplus GUI as the name says by Tsplus. And highly Windows Explorer does not allow to limit folder availability and unsure if main office can affect third part program like Microsoft Windows Explorer as you requested. Highly I assume main office will response you to use Tplus GUI on your question. But anyway ask this question in ticket.

Re: HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
Hi.
I completely understand that a question shouldn't address anyone in particular, and I never did, moreover, that's why I asked for someone from "support" to give some feedback.
I don't really want TSplus to be able to change Explorer in any way, my point is that having the option to use Explorer as default on the last update is potentially breaking security in many installations where the user is trusting TSplus GUI to be showing only the applied folder. Using Explorer should be a choice for the ones that want it, and never used as the default option. I am glad I noticed this, not so happy that I will have to be careful in all my clients where we installed TSplus, if they apply the update. This could be a disaster. So, my only request, and "support" could jump in and comment on it, is that "use Explorer" should never come as the default option for the updates, "TSplus GUI" should be the default, as it was the expected behavior since ever.
But I will open a ticket if this is the only way I could get the right person to respond.
Thanks.

Re: HTML 5 - "Use Explorer to select files" not correct.
Hello,
This is an interesting point.
I confirm you that, for security raison, we did remove the use of "Explorer" to browse file.
Then, we had customer crying, because "this was not like that before; we want Explorer back".
Then we had the option, in the AdminTool, to let the administrator decide himself what is the best for his users:
- Use Explorer to select files
or
- Use TSplus GUI
What can we do more?
I do not know.
