Printers in domain
Printers in domain
I have put a server running Win 7 in a network that has a domain. I have setup this machine with TS plus to run a software program via remote app. I have installed the printers on the network, both shared from a computer and networked, on this server. The printers will lose connection and i have to restart the spooler service on the Win 7 server to get them back. I have used domain authentication to connect to the printers so i am not sure why this keeps happening. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Printers in domain
Hello,
This issue can be avoided by using the Universal Printer because we do not use the print spooler service, more information about this can be found here : tsplus.net/support/kb/faq.php?id=20
The first thing to do here is to make sure you do not use redirected printers in your generated connection client, if so you will need to make new ones.
having a printer spooler issue means that you probably installed some printer drivers that are not compatible with your server for a TSplus use. I recommend you to go to the control panel/printer and click on "server properties" to look at what drivers are installed on your server.
Doing so you will be able to delete all unwanted drivers and/or update them. If you find any drivers that are compatible with Remote Desktop Services then I recommend you to install these.
You can also set the spool service to be automatically restarted when an error occur. And you can look at the details of these errors in the system event log.
Additionally you can edit your redirected printer properties and set it to print directly on the printer, this way you will not be using the printer spooler.
