TSPlus licences for farm server ?

Hello,

How works the licencing system with Enterprise Edition and farm servers ?
E.G: Imagine a system with 300 users at the same time using TSPlus for accessing applications.

As describes here: http://www.terminalserviceplus.com/docs/pre-requisites
1) CPU frequency are missing for column "Windows 2008/2012/8 or 10" when users > 10. Why ?
2) One CPU is for one physycal CPU or 1 core CPU like Vmware vCore or HyperV virtual core ?
Then how much physycal CPU and Core CPU per physycal CPU ?
3) How have you calibrate the hardware specs ?

Then, here is the hardware specs (50 users per TsPlus server) for 300 users:
6 X Win 10 Pro with TS Plus Eterprise Edition + dual CPU+ SSD for OS and 16GB RAM
4) The price for TS Plus Eterprise Edition with unlimited users is per OS (then 6 TSPlus licences: 6 x 1175$ ) or one licence TSPlus for the whole farm servers ?

Thank you in advance,

Best regards,

Hello,

You will find your answers below :
1) CPU frequency are missing for column "Windows 2008/2012/8 or 10" when users > 10. Why ?
2) One CPU is for one physycal CPU or 1 core CPU like Vmware vCore or HyperV virtual core ?
Then how much physycal CPU and Core CPU per physycal CPU ?
3) How have you calibrate the hardware specs ?
1) This pre requisite section is quite old and was made about 5 years ago and are meant to provide some basic information on the minimal hardware needed to run a TSplus server. What is important to keep in mind here is that any CPU from I5 / I7 to Xeon will show great performance for this purpose, this is why focusing on frequency is irrelevant here.

2) I am referring to one physical CPU. The more the better.

3) What we want people to avoid, is to use a very cheap computer to install TSplus on. Because you can change any computer into an application server, does not mean that you can do so with just any hardware. So this calibration was made on common sense rather than anything else.

4) TSplus licensing model is simple : One license per server.
This is why I think it is important to size your servers accordingly to create the perfect farm that suits your needs.

I will post below some general good practice recommendation to help you find the right size for your server, I can also generate a trial license for testing purpose with larger amount of users if necessary for large projects :

1- When a few users do log on and the server starts to hang, open a task manager and click on the process tab.
2- Sorting processes by CPU usage can help to isolate who or what is consuming the most CPU usage.
3- Sorting processes by memory can help to isolate which process is using the most memory.
4- Sorting processes by GDI/Users object to isolate which process is using most objects. Some application may cause servers to hang because of this Windows limitation, more information about this can be found here : blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2010/02/24/3315174.aspx
