Load balancing issue

Post by DiceAir » Thu Apr 09, 2015 11:23 am

Hi there

i have the following issue. and questions. How do you do load balancing with internal and external ip cause I did set it up but can only do either local or external ip. So basically I can only have 1 ip.

I have 100 users and want to do load balancing on 2 vms having the base server as gateway. I went to gateway and filled in the information and published the the gateway portal on the main server. I also made it a web gateway server instead of application server. what i want to do is 1 port forwarded to the main server and then when connecting from the internet using the public ip/domain name. Now comes the tricky part

We going to have 2 lines. 1 dedicated to tsplus and another dedicated to all other local pc's. Now I want to be able to connect externally via the line connected to tsplus but when on local lan do load balancing while using loclal lan of course.

So would I go about doing this?

Okay, we have a very similar system here. It used to work great, but as of 8.20 update, its broken. We have 1 gateway server and 4 VM's with applications. Roughly 700 users. Here's my setup:

Gateway 3.220

ts1 3.221
ts2 3.222
ts3 3.223
ts4 3.224

Everyone goes to tsplus.domain.com (which points to 3.220), which (HAD) the gateway installed and configured for "load balancing" and reverse proxy. Only the 80/443 ports were needed to be opened. Everyone hit 3.220 and if it was external our proxy/dns is setup to serve either side of it. Load balancing seems to just be on a per-user connection basis (IE 1 users on ts1 to it moves next user to ts2). You'll know the gateway page is working by the last drop-down menu being shown but not select-able. The new update seems to have broken it for us, and the config is a different interface (it just worked before, now it wants external IP and server info).

What does your current setup look like?

PS. Not many seem to use this system, and tech support is quite slow to respond (email only?), we have had to call the owner just to get a response before. It's a great system, when it works.

Hello DiceAir,

For your setup the best way to achieve this (only 1 public IP) would be to use our brand new Gateway Reverse-Proxy feature.
Please apply our latest UpdateRelease (dl-files.com/UpdateRelease.exe) and then in the "Gateway" tab of our AdminTool, you will see a new tile "Gateway Reverse Proxy": use it to set it up.

Do not hesitate to contact our Support if you have any issue while configuring this feature: we are here to help.
I know it can take some time to get an answer on the forum, but we do answer very quickly if you use our Helpdesk (tsplus.net/support).

Hello dustinzinnj,

Our 8.20 version includes a new Gateway Reverse-Proxy feature.

However, it should not broke an existing load balancing setup.
Do not hesitate to contact our support directly with your access details, so we can get this fixed with you!

Okay, I seem to have mine working again. I had to go into the Load Balance section and change the IP of all my servers (click on their individual name), and set them back to my INTERNAL/LAN ip, rather than the Proxy machines LAN ip (from 3.220~srv1.to 3.224). Disable and re-enable Load Balance, Restart web services, and it seems to be functional now.

Just an idea, maybe its a new issue with the update... The reverse proxy page is different now, maybe its not applying the settings correctly... No idea.
