Datacenter licensing clarification

Post by proware » Tue Jun 30, 2015 2:20 am

I am about to set up Windows Datacenter on 2 mirrored servers sahring a SAN drive.
Within this environment, I wish to deploy multiple copies of my commercial application which will be made available to companies (one companyper app instance).
Within the environment, I want to be able to share my application with the employees of the companies using application sharing (not desktop sharing).

I have 2 options:

1. Set up a new VM for each client company.
This option provides the best security model as each companies data / application is confined to the VM environment.

2, Set up a single monolithic VM for all companies using windows security to disable access between companies.
Lots of security issues here to deal with but might be achievable with some trouble. However, rebooting the VM takes everyone down.

In both cases above, the number of users can vary from company to company.

What are the implications for TSPlus licensing?
Can I purchase a single unlimited license to apply to the above scenarios?

Cheers
David

Hello,

TSplus is not meant to work in scenario 1 as each server / VM would need a single license to work properly, and single licenses start with 3 users, not one. The one virtual machine per user configuration will also need a much bigger server to support this number of VM.

On the other hand, with a fewer VMs, you will be able to centralize your applications more easily and provide a secured environment to your users by publishing only the cocktail of applications your users need. This can be done by publishing either the floating panel or the Remote taskbar.

The remote taskbar will display the content of the desktop folder of the user profile while the floating panel will display only the applications that are assigned to a single user or group, more information about this feature can be found here : http: //www.terminalserviceplus.com/docs/remote ... ting-panel

You will find here a documentation on how to publish new applications : http: //www.terminalserviceplus.com/docs/application-publishing

And how to assign these applications to users : http: //www.terminalserviceplus.com/docs/assign ... -or-groups
