Bandwidth usage

Post by juanfelixh » Thu Nov 29, 2012 5:26 pm

I'm wondering how much bandwidth a TS plus sessions uses or requires. Also, does anyone know how much memory is it consumed?

Hello,

Bandwith used by TSplus is around 20 to 50 kpbs, usually most small business company will be fine with a standard ADSL 2 Mbits and 5 users. Things to be taken in consideration is the type of application you plan on using remotely thought.
If your application has a lot of animated gifs in it, video, music or application like photoshop or autocad then it will affect the bandwith used. You can also reduce the bandwith used by a TSplus session by not activating peripheral redirection such as printer/usb devices and stick to a low color rate. By experience 15 bits is more than enough in order to have a good graphical experience in a TSplus session.

Regarding memory usage it once again all depends of the application you plan on using remotely. a TSplus session does use a lot of memory. But if 10 users launches Outlook and firefox at the same time, it will rapidly uses around 1gb memory.

To me what appears to be the best practice is to give TSplus a try in a valid test environment.
