Trouble using TSPlus with VPN?

Has anyone here had troubles with TSPlus ever, while utilizing a VPN like Sophos Connect, Sophos SSL-VPN, or OpenVPN before connecting with a local address to your server?
We have an issue where the client can connect fine, but throughout a period of time in the session, the session itself will eventually lock up 100% and become unresponsive until they disconnect from the server and reconnect again.
I'm testing connecting to the server without a VPN (oh god), to see if the problem still happens but it's such a flaky hard to reproduce problem.
