Why use connection Client instead of RDP-Client?

Hi,

i now use TSplus for several years in many projects and i always told my customers, that they have to use my "special" RDP client aka connection client.

Now i have big problems in a large installation with 150 users, 7 TSplus server in loadbalancing, printer issues and so on.

For testing i set up another server (no. 8) installed TSplus but allowed the customer to access this server via normal RDP client (mstsc.exe) for testing.

for my understanding the following is true:
  • TSplus handles the users session with licensing also on pure RDP
  • i cannot use loadbalancing without connection client (yes, with Browser)
so what else is the benefit when using the connection client instead of standard RDP client?

regards
Michael

Hello Mickael,

The advantages of the connection client are as follow :

- to be able to connect to a load balanced farm of TSplus server
- to print using the Universal Printer
- to use the Open on client and the Open URL on client feature

Hi Olivier,

thanks for clarification.

In this specific project none of these 3 points are relevant:

- loadbalancing does not work very well (printer issues, profile issues)
- universal printer works not work very well (with option -select on the printer dialogue does not pop up reliable)
- OpenOnClient feature is nice, but not needed in this project

So we can stay on mstsc-access without loosing important features.

Hello,

Indeed, the use of connection client is not always relevant, and is also not supported by these operating system : Mac, thin client or Linux also.
