Disable Multiple Sessions Prevents Logon

Post by bbogedin » Mon Feb 04, 2013 6:45 pm

Enabling the option in the admin tool to disable multiple sessions per user prevents logon to users back into a previously disconnected session.

Scenario

Admin Tool option has multiple sessions per user disabled. User Alpha logs into TSPLUS server. Session is working fine and they disconnect instead of logging off. User Alpha comes back 2 hours later and attempts to login. Do not pass go do not collect $200. It will not allow User Alpha to log back in. What happens is it shows the logging on and then immediately logs off again.

How can this be resolved to allow users to log back into disconnected sessions while also still preventing multiple sessions per user?

Thanks

This has been resolved by GPO. i didn't realize you had this FAQ

I've run into a similar problem.

I am trying to have a single session for users, so I enabled the 'Allow only one open session per user' with the AdminTool. But when I attempt to login with an account already logged in elsewhere, I get 'remote connection has timed out' error.
I tried following the steps from the FAQ but I do not have the Remote Desktop Services folder in the Group Policy Editor. The computer is running Windows XP Professional SP3.
There is a folder called Terminal Services that seems to have the settings, which I have set accordingly.
However this does not make a difference.
The Admintool version is 3.400.00.10
For what it's worth I am pasting the text from the debug log (won't let me upload text or pdf)
Hope you can help!

Hello,

My advice to you would be to uncheck the "Allow only one user session" within the admin tool and to enable the gpo shown in the FAQ : http://tsplus.net/support/kb/faq.php?id=28

The behavior you are encountering comes from two things :

-The "allow only one user session" is checked
-A long disconnection time has been set in the admin tool, closed session are maintained alive for a period of time, which prevent a new user to log on.
