Load balancing updates

Post by johnrollins » Mon Dec 14, 2020 11:26 am

Hi,

We would like to disable one server from our farm so that we can run a Windows Update. How do we do this?

1. Is there a setting to leave the server in the Load Balancing dialog but disable it so that no new logins are sent to it? We couldn't find a setting so we removed the server. I don't like deleting entries in case we re-add them incorrectly. If there is no setting to disable a server, could you add one please?

2. After removing the server, it looks like users were still being redirected to it? Do we need to restart the web service?

3. As a side note, if we restart the web service does it kill existing sessions or can users continue where they left off.

Thanks,
John

Hello,

Uncheck the "Server is enabled" box. make sure that all users have closed their sessions in the session management tool located in the admin tool / home / session manager.

You will then be able to update your server and reboot, afterward, simply re enable your server and you'll be good to go.
