Hi,
I have a question about keeping the administrator online and active. I have a few programs on a server that cannot run as a service.
Therefore they run under the administrator session. The administrator needs to be active all the time. What I want to do is
keep the administrator online but the normal users offline after a certain time of inactivity. In the TSPlus interface this
can be done easily, but when I set a parameter of i.e. 10 minutes, the administrator will be logged off as well after 10 minutes.
Anybody has a clue how to overcome this ? Thanks in advance for any help.
Best regards,
Aad

Re: Keep administrator online and active.
Hello,
Disable inactivity settings in the AdminTool, and follow this procedure to apply these strategies only to non administrator users : tsplus.net/support/kb/faq.php?id=19
The strategy you are looking for are located in : Computer configuration / Administrative template / Windows Components / Remote Desktop Services / Remote Desktop Session Host / Session timeout

Hello Olivier,
Thank you for your reply and link. I made a group Non administrators, started MMC and linked this group to a policy.
I installed the Session time outs and restarted the server.
This solution gives no result. The sign "Disconnected" on the Non administrator-user stays in the Taskmanager.
Maybe you have any hints to solve this.

Re: Keep administrator online and active.
Hello,
Make sure that your administrator is not the member of user group, sometime a reboot is necessary so that changes take effect or use the command gpupdate /force in a command prompt.
The procedure I provided is for a server that is not a member of a domain. If your server is the member of a domain you will need to set these directly on your domain controller or allow local GPO to be executed, this is possible by activating this GPO on your domain controller :
Computer configuration / Policies / Administrative Template / System / Group Policy / Turn off Local Group Policy objects processing.
